Posthumous memoir from L7 bassist Jennifer Finch gets release date
"Shooting Up and Making Out: A Memoir of My Life in LA and L7" arrives Jan. 19, 2027, co-written with Jeff Alulis
A memoir by L7 bassist Jennifer Finch will be published on Jan. 19, 2027. Titled "Shooting Up and Making Out: A Memoir of My Life in LA and L7," the book is available for pre-order now.
Finch died last month after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer. Over the previous two years, she developed the book alongside co-writer Jeff Alulis, the former lead singer of Dead Kennedys, revising the manuscript until she was satisfied with it.
"Jennifer's memoir was the last major project she completed before she passed away," Alulis said. He described the collaboration as a painstaking process shaped by how deliberate Finch was about every line, adding that he is heartbroken she won't see the finished book but eager to share her story.
The memoir is billed as a candid, personal account of Finch's life as a musician, photographer and activist. Alongside her years in L7, one of the defining bands of the '90s alternative underground, the book addresses addiction, abuse and loss.
Pre-orders for "Shooting Up and Making Out: A Memoir of My Life in LA and L7" are open.
