Mannequin Pussy debut unreleased song at sold-out Starland Ballroom show
The band played "I Stuttered", a track with no official release yet, on a night opened by Brooklyn quartet Lip Critic in Sayreville, New Jersey.
Mannequin Pussy filled the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey, in a show documented by Dying Scene. The set opened with "I Got Heaven", the title track of their most recent album, and leaned heavily on that record while working in older material such as "Everything", from their second full-length, Romantic.
The night's biggest surprise was "I Stuttered", a song that has not appeared on any official release and that points to a new album in the works. The performance also underlined how far the band has come from the small Philadelphia rooms where they built their audience in the late 2010s.
Opening the show was Lip Critic, a Brooklyn-based quartet whose stage setup stood out on its own: two drum kits and two sampler-and-vocal stations, with no amp walls or elaborate production. The group heads out on tour with Show Me The Body this fall.
Mannequin Pussy's schedule stays packed through the end of the year. The band has dates alongside Foo Fighters and Queens of the Stone Age, plus separate runs with Amyl and the Sniffers and Wednesday. No title or release date for the next record has been announced.
