Jimmy Eat World close 'Bleed American' UK run with biggest headline show yet

Jimmy Eat World wrapped their UK 'Bleed American' 25th anniversary run at Crystal Palace Bowl in London, playing the album in full to a crowd of as many as 12,000 people. It was the biggest headline show of the band's career, following dates in Halifax and Cardiff.

Frontman Jim Adkins spent much of the night thanking the audience, at times appearing overwhelmed. "I have so much gratitude for right now and being here," he told the crowd. Speaking before the set, he described the run as some of the largest headline gigs the group has ever played.

The record holds particular weight in Britain. After 'Clarity' arrived to little fanfare in 1999 and the band were dropped by their label, 'Bleed American' became their first album to chart in the UK and is now certified Gold there, helped by constant television airplay for 'The Middle'. In the US, it reached double platinum as of July 2026.

Bassist Rick Burch said he spotted merch spanning multiple eras among fans before doors, including a very old shirt bearing the Arizona state flag, and noted how many longtime listeners had brought their children along. Rehearsing the album meant revisiting songs rarely played live, with Adkins singling out 'Cautioners' and 'My Sundown' as the ones he was most eager to dust off.

Onstage, the shift from 'Lucky Denver Mint' into the title track sent the crowd over the edge, while 'Hear You Me' drew tears across the park. The band also dug into 'Clarity' for 'For Me This Is Heaven'. Asked whether another album could get similar treatment, Adkins ruled it out, saying he cannot imagine circumstances where it would make sense for any other record.
