Hayley Williams brings out KIRBY and Big K.R.I.T. at Mississippi tour closer
The Paramore singer wrapped the American leg of her "Hayley Williams Show" tour in Southaven with a live take on "Miss Black America"
Hayley Williams closed out the final American date of her "Hayley Williams Show" tour on Monday night in Southaven, Mississippi, and she used the occasion to bring two fellow Mississippians onstage: singer-songwriter KIRBY and rapper-producer Big K.R.I.T. The show took place at BankPlus Amphitheatre At Snowden Grove.
The three performed "Miss Black America," the song KIRBY and Big K.R.I.T. released together last year, with the Paramore frontwoman handling backup vocals and ad-libs. The guest list tracked with the setting: KIRBY was born in Southaven, Big K.R.I.T. comes from Meridian, and Williams was born in Meridian as well, even though she has been based in Nashville for her entire career.
Williams has spent most of the year on the road, crossing North America on two large tours, her first and second as a solo artist. Special guests have been a recurring feature of those nights, including a recent appearance from longtime collaborator Zedd at a Hollywood date.
Fan-shot footage of the full performance circulated online shortly after the set. Southern identity and resistance run through both "Miss Black America" and Williams' recent material, making the pairing a fitting way to end the American run.
