Chart Attack self-release Age Against The Machine, a record of '90s reimaginings

The masked anonymous band enlisted Kevin Martin, Jaret Reddick and Jason Aalon Butler for covers of Alice in Chains, Blind Melon and Rage Against the Machine

Chart Attack, the anonymous group that performs in old-man masks, have put out their new album Age Against The Machine without a label. The record revisits '90s hits and reshapes them around the band's own personality.

Three guests the band describe as longtime heroes appear across the tracklist. Kevin Martin of Candlebox takes the mic on Alice in Chains' "Man in the Box". Jaret Reddick of Bowling for Soup turns up on Blind Melon's "No Rain". And Jason Aalon Butler of letlive handles Rage Against the Machine's "Killing in the Name".

The band frame the project as a defense of the human side of record-making at a moment when AI-generated music is raising questions about the future of creativity. For them, that means playing instruments, testing ideas and taking chances on every song.

The release was marked with an intimate Halloween party on October 31st at House Pub in Illinois, featuring live music, a $250 prize for the best costume and a free tasting of Lost Marbles Little Batch Bourbon, the spirits brand run by Kevin Martin.

"We wear the masks because it's not about us", the band said, describing themselves as fans first rather than rock stars. Chart Attack have also confirmed that select live dates are being planned for 2027.
