Bridge City Sinners set UK "Repent & Repeat" and US "Trick Or Treat" tour runs
The Portland folk punk outfit returns to the UK and Ireland on September 30, then joins Streetlight Manifesto for three Texas dates in November
Bridge City Sinners have lined up two stretches of shows for the fall. The "Repent and Repeat" tour opens September 30 in Brighton and works its way across the UK and Ireland through October 11. Later in the month, the band takes its "Trick or Treat" run to the West Coast.
In November, the group links up with Streetlight Manifesto for three dates in Texas. Full routing and tickets for both the UK and US legs are available through the band's official channels.
Bridge City Sinners came together in Portland in 2016, out of the city's street music community. Libby Lux and upright bassist Scott Michaud had already been playing on sidewalks before the band formed as a loose circle of friends, with little rehearsal and no fixed lineup. Built around banjo, fiddle, guitar, upright bass and ukulele, their sound pulls from old-time jazz, Appalachian folk and punk, swinging between eerie ballads and loud, rowdy singalongs.
That mix has carried them to Punk Rock Bowling Festival, Muddy Roots and Oregon's Bluegrass String Summit. The band has kept much of the operation in house, issuing its albums through the community label Flail Records.
Guitarist and vocalist King Strang said it has been two years since the band's last UK visit and pointed to the Streetlight Manifesto shows as a highlight, noting that "a lot of people really loved Streetlight Manifesto in high school." He added that the group plans to stretch its favorite holiday across two full weeks of shows this year.
