Bonnaroo will skip 2027 as festival grounds recover from storms

Bonnaroo will not take place in 2027. In a statement released this week, organizers of the American festival announced a year off so that The Farm, the property that hosts the event, can recover from repeated seasons of damaging weather.

The statement notes that significant time and money went into upgrading the campgrounds and Centeroo ahead of the 2026 edition, including better drainage, 4.5 miles of new roadways and 135 acres of new grass. Even with those improvements, organizers concluded the site had not been given enough time to bounce back, particularly the main venue. "Bonnaroo will be taking a much-needed year off in 2027," the post reads.

The pause follows a rough stretch for the festival. The 2025 edition was cut short due to extreme weather, and the 2021 event was canceled outright because of covid. This year, a heavy rainstorm hit on Sunday.

Bonnaroo's decision lands amid a broader pattern of festivals scaling back or running into trouble. Punk Rock Bowling had no 2026 installment, This Is Hardcore Fest scaled back in 2025, Sick New World was canceled in 2025, and Bamboozle was called off in 2023, among other events.

Organizers described the decision as a difficult one, but said they believe the break will ultimately make the festival stronger. No details about a return date have been announced.
